good good afternoon, everybody, i'm larry beil. >> a dramatic rescue today in san francisco over when two teens saw a woman struggling in the water, it's unclear at this point if she fell. the teens climbed down the cliff to pull her to safety and realized they couldn't get back up the cliff. the coast guard came to the

rescue and got all three. >> the victim put on a stretcher and lifted into a helicopter. you can see her being hoisted up. cruise rushed her to the doctor. the two good samaritans waded out in the ocean and waive runners rescued them. both had minor cuts and scrapes. >> we're good the calm before storm two, the second half of the wet weather double header moving in the area tonight. there could be more down trees still to come. people doing their best today to clean up after the storm. spencer christian is on the roof with an accu-weather forecast. hi, spencer. >> things may seem calm now. partly to mostly cloudy skies behind me. no precipitation at the moment. over the bay area, but this is an intense storm coming our way.

you can see storms over the land area of the bay area now, and thicker, did i say storms? i meant clouds, and thicker clouds tout to sea. giving you a look at rainfall totals from the last storm before going to the next one this, is a good soaking we got. over an inch and a half of rain from this first storm at the santa rosa. up mount st. helena, over two and a half inches of rain. and around the bay area, generous doses of rainfall. it's intensifying rapidly. and we do expect strong possibility of high risk of wind damage from the storm. and here is our forecast animation, first rain arriving around 10:00 p.m

time. >> we've gotten used to not having winter. people might be surprised by it. passed through the trees besides electricity, lines carry telephone cable and internet service. >> during storms, and high winds there is potential for a tree to fall on a power line. that is why we do so much to invest in maintenance and trimming year round. >> yesterday's storm barely raised levels in the water district. in all, they saw 663 acre feet of water added that only increased by less than a half percent. >> our goal in reducing water use is to save about 72,000 feet so we're just, it's just barely helping. >> tonight, the bay area hoping for a down pour, but no outages

police say he attacked one officer and another shot him. >> senator barbara boxer asking the cdc to investigate what has been causing polio-like paf ral sis of the limbs to 20 california children over the past 18 months. boxer sent a letter to the agency today asking experts to look into whether a virus or environmental factors are involved. she wants to know if there are other unusual reports of paralysis nationally. researchers have been looking into the cases >> all lanes are back open on highway 101 that have fuel tanker accident caused an environmental concern and a traffic nightmare this morning. sky seven hd was over the accident and southbound lanes were closed hours forcing evacuations of nearby homes.

>> it was too wet to be going southbound but chp says the driver hit this big rig carrying a fuel tanker pushing it into a ditch. >> it's the worst case scenario. we don't see many of these here. but this is worse case >> the 8500 gallon tanker spilled 83,000 gallons of fuel. lightning seen in the area, and fumes lingered within a thousand square foot hot zone. 14 homes were evacuated. >> doorbell rang, two pretty sheriff ladies asked if they can talk to me. if there is a -- they didn't say what it was just could you please evacuate. i said okay. and i said is is it that bad? he says yes. it is. >> phillip and his wife and two daughters packed up and stayed with family. firefighters spent hours sucking the gas out of the tanker and

filling up a new tanker. but the gas on the ground was a real problem. firefighters estimate 2000 gallons drained into the creek. >> there is no damming and no collection point from here out. >> that is a significant amount of gas. >> at about 10:30 in the morning we watched as worker was nrc environmental service arrived at the creek in middle avenue and put down boons into the water, they won't comment about what they're doing but it's unclear how help thfl could be nine and a half hours after the initial spill. >> pg&e using a smart pig to test gas pipeline. pig is short for pipeline intervention gadget the new tool squeaks as it propels is self through the line using sensors to collect information about the pipe. the smart pig checks for loss,

a california appeals court read it is legal for drivers to read a map on hand held cell phones in their car. this is after the judges say banning people from talking on phones does not apply to those looking at maps >> police in san diego are looking for a burglary suspect who used three young kids to help him pull off a job. surveillance video first captured the man casing a home construction with a little girl. they left but that night, the man returned this time, accompanied by two little boys.

features, rain arrives and will be stormy overnight. wet, windy for morning commute tomorrow. and rain, showers continuing into saturday strong winds and rain and showers beginning to just kick off a little bit friday night into saturday morning. and then, late ska saturday, you'll see that low pressure system. we'll talk about wind. there is a wind advisory from 10:00 tonight through 10:00 tomorrow morning. that is where all coastal areas could be strong, downed trees and power lines are a possibility. to the south, flash flood watch

up to eight inches of rain expected into higher elevations there. and swells 14-16 feet. breakers up to 20 feet. rip currents are a threat as well. and by saturday, looking at rainfall totals 1 to 2 inches of north bay mountains. and low temperatures into low 50s and tomorrow, showers taper off, we'll see highs climbing into low 60s here is the accu-weather forecast. there is a chance of rain next week as well, too early to say next week's event going to be a major storm. we'll see more rain next week.
